Oh my.

Driving in I had this happy post all planned. Then I read this.

Say hello to Theocracy. That moron will be appointing two supreme court justices.

Justice Souter (appointed by Bush 41) and Justice Kennedy (appointed by Reagan) have both sided with the liberals on certain cases, which is a sharp contrast to the ideological legacies that their appointers would have them leave.

Then again, the judicial nominees that Bush 43 has laid on the table are scary enough by themselves.

Yes. Sandra D was appointed believing that should would be conservative but turned out much more open minded than they expected. Bush has already said that he will insure that who ever he appoints doesn't do this.

I hope moderate Americans make themselves heard on this
My only hope is that the Democrats in the Senate gave up on the Appellate Court nominations in order to focus on the Supreme Court nominations they knew would be coming, and that they will fight any wacko nominations with everything they have.

This is so critical. If moderate Americans do not stand up and demand appointment of qualified candidates, the Supreme Court will be fucked up for years to come.

I was often at odds with O'Connor and Rehnquist, but I felt they were fair, qualified and did their job with a serious commitment to the law, not their own political leanings.

I expect a conservative administration to nominate conservative judges, but not right-wing extremist wackos like Bush put on the Appellate Courts in the last few months.

I just hope individual Americans make themselves heard on this.

I too hope that we can stop this madness. Otherwise we will be taking a huge step back that will take many years to fix.

and if you really want to ruin your day. http://www.theocracywatch.org/
